Family Life, General

It’s been awhile.

Shockingly seminary takes up a lot of time reading and writing, leaving little time to write blogs now.

I still want make this blog a regular thing, but for now school and wife are priorities. I have been taking a class looking at justification and the “new perspective on Paul” maybe I will distill my term paper for that into a post or two, because there haven’t been enough blog posts on that .

Wife’s new job is going well, and she is getting ready for the fall and more photo gigs. Check her site out here

Done with boring.

I have a list of goals for next year I wrote today. They are practical, attainable, and…boring.

I just tore them up.

I’m tired of boring. I’ve spent two years being safe, complacent, and invisible.

No more boring and attainable. This year it is scary, exciting, and impossible.

I don’t know what that means yet, but I’m praying about it.

What are you going to do this year?

Happy new year.

Love this guy, relentless pursuit of authenticity. This particular post really resonated with me as I have been really thinking about my speech, and the weight it carries.

Whether it is a dude who makes fat “jokes” or freely using the comeback “Your mom!” around someone who’s mother has died, we need to be less ignorant, more aware, and probably ten-times more sensitive to those around us than we typically are.

New Adventures

My wife and I have talked recently about how it seems we have hit a point in our life where we have experienced enough life to figure out the things we love and are faced with infinite possibilities to pursue.

My wife is taking a leap chasing one of those possibilities, she’s starting a photography business. So let me introduce to you Tara Nichole Photography.

I realized Tara had a great eye when I was working as a video editor for a church. It seemed when Tara was behind the camera, she always caught a great angle. She seemed to really enjoy it. As she slowly grew into it, she realized how much she enjoyed doing photography. Doing the things God has designed you to do is exactly what being a living sacrifice is about. So thanks to my dad lending us his camera and letting us buy it from him eventually, Tara is starting to do personal and family lifestyle shoots, and is sharpening her skills as an event photographer.

Follow Tara Nichole Photography, check out some of her work, and think about contacting her to encourage or schedule a shoot in the Phoenix Area. – Facebook Fan Page – Twitter

Hinge Moments

I have recently started reading “Quitter” by Jon Acuff. In a chapter talking about figuring out what exactly your dream is he talks about “hinge moments”

“A hinge moment occurs when you are planning to do something standard and normal, something you’ve done many times before, like turn a key in the ignition. And then seemingly out of nowhere, something, a small detail usually, hinges you in a different direction. A chance encounter at the grocery store, a stranger’s random comment, one line in an article you read pushes you to a place you were not expecting to go – Page 44”

In reading this, I began to reflect on hinge moments in my life, one in particular came to mind-
